We understand that many of our clients will have concerns about whether or not they are legally allowed to add our temporary and fixed structures to their site, and if they will have to apply for planning permission. However, usually this is not a concern. Our domes, canopies, container products, walkways, domes, storage structures and portable modular buildings are used by many companies in order to enhance and expand their existing facilities, and in most cases the installation can go ahead without any need for permission. However, the structures have to meet certain criteria to be exempt.
There are rules relating to the new size and capacity that our structures will bring to your existing building. The new addition must not exceed the height of the original building, or permission will be required. If your property is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, a designated conservation area or a National Park, you may only increase the cubic content of your original building by 10%. In all other cases, you may increase the cubic content by up to 25%.
The new structure must not materially affect the external appearance of the premises, although this will be considered on an individual basis and will be affected by many different factors. It must be used only for the purposes of the business, such as storage, distribution and industrial processes. If you plan to use the new structure for any other purpose, you may need to apply for permission.
If you have any concerns that you may require permission for your chosen structure, our experienced team can advise you. If it is found that you will legally need to apply for planning permission, we can handle the process for you, ensuring that your new addition can be installed completely safely and legally. From design to installation, we can offer you a complete solution for all your permanent and temporary storage needs.
