It’s been a long time coming and it may be another while before we can do it again but we were thrilled to be exhibiting recently at an industry event, catching up with old faces and meeting lots of new.
Networking is so important for our business growth and you can only really do that effectively in person.
The programme for Tomorrow’s Warehouse was packed full of seminars and for us it was really interesting to hear all about the issues we are facing with commercial space. Temporary or quick-build permanent solutions are going to be high on the agenda and we are ready for it!
Kevin Mofid from Savills suggested that by 2025, an additional 63.9m sq ft of warehouse space is going to be required across the UK to meet the demands of the online retail sector alone. As well as the changes to customer behaviour prompted by the pandemic, warehouse occupiers in this industry are also expected to store more inventory as a way of building supply chain resilience.
Rising rents, environmental issues and planning policies aside, it’s the lack of supply of new buildings that is by far the most significant challenge facing the sector. If you’re prepared to consider alternatives to traditional bricks & mortar or you need a stop-gap solution then look no further.
